Paris Jackson is attending AA meetings (Alcohol Anonymous).
Michael Jackson's daughter took to social media and revealed her secret struggle with addiction. Paris also vowed not to let haters and pressure from the public led her down a deadly path of self-destruction similar to her late father's fate, according to an Instagram post.
Paris is back in the news for all the wrong reasons. The aspiring musician revealed a part of her private life that took some by surprise and validated the suspicions of others.
Jackson responded sharply to followers over a string of comments made on the photo-sharing site. Similar to Twitter, it has become a destination and platform used for firing off vitriol.
A quick once-over of Paris' account shows just how many negative remarks are made almost daily. Parts of the persnickety comments are aimed at her dad.
This time, something struck a nerve and Paris lashed out in a profanity-laced rant. It was then that the public learned about her dependence issues but was left short on details.
"This is f****** ridiculous. I am expected to literally sit on my ass all day replying to comments people leave me (positive and negative)?
"I have AA meeting to go to. Family obligations. PERSONAL obligations.
"It's so f***ing selfish that I am literally attacked on ever f***ing thing I post just because people that I DON'T EVEN KNOW aren't getting what they want.
"I don't know any of you. I appreciate the love and support, but the expectations are f***ing ridiculous."
Paris Jackson, like other child celebrities, often finds her in the throes of a tug-o-war with fans that love and hate what she shares online -- and what she represents in general. The method of coping is often complicated when verbal attacks are launched at a parent or loved one.
The Billy Jean pop star died in 2009 from an alleged overdose. Michael often talked about his struggles with the public, bouts of harsh criticism, and privacy matters. In the end -- based on the official death report -- he succumbed to the pressures of being famous.
Paris, who stands to earn millions from her late father's estate when she turns 18 in April, vows to take another road. AA is only a part of her plan to declare victory over hate and pressures associated with having a famous last name.
"The expectations for my DAD were f***ing ridiculous. He didn't owe you anything, yet he was ripped to shreds DAILY. I will not let that happen to me."
